Practice in the writing of short fiction with some reading of contemporary fiction writers in English.
One of my favorite courses at Davidson, this class challenged me creatively and technically. It is hard to find a set of standards with which to judge works of fiction, but I learned ways to ensure my creative writing wasn’t boring or cliche. We studied short stories and even films, learning how to connect dialogue, description, and plot into a cohesive and worthwhile story.
